StudyHype AI ("the app") is a study and productivity app that helps users manage notes, tasks, calendar events, study sessions, and AI-powered learning tools. This Privacy Policy explains how the app collects, uses, stores, and shares information.

By using StudyHype AI, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

StudyHype AI requires an account to use the app. When you sign up or sign in, we collect:

• Email address
• Full name (entered at sign-up, or provided by Google if you use Google Sign-In)
• Password (only for email/password accounts; handled by our authentication provider, Supabase — we do not have access to your plaintext password)
• Profile photo, bio, study goal, and institution, if you choose to add them in your profile

If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile photo from your Google account, based on the permissions you grant during sign-in.

Content you create

• Notes, tasks, calendar events, and study goals you enter
• Images, PDFs, or DOCX files you choose to select, scan, or upload for AI features
• AI-generated responses created from your input

Subscription information

• Your subscription status (free, trial, or paid), linked to your account, used to unlock premium features. Purchases are processed by the Google Play Store; we do not receive your payment card details.

Other information

• Notification preferences, if you enable reminders
• App settings saved on your device, such as theme preference and study progress

2. How We Use Information

• Create, secure, and let you sign in to your account
• Sync your profile and subscription status to your account so they're available when you sign in
• Operate core app features: notes, tasks, calendar, Pomodoro focus sessions
• Generate AI-powered study outputs such as summaries, quizzes, flashcards, concept maps, and math solutions
• Schedule local study reminders if notifications are enabled
• Respond to support requests

3. Where Information Is Stored

• Account data — email, name, profile fields, and subscription status are stored on Supabase's servers, which act as our authentication and database provider.
• Local-only data — notes, tasks, calendar events, Pomodoro state, AI history, and theme settings are stored locally on your device and are not sent to our servers.

4. AI Processing and Third-Party Services

StudyHype AI uses Google Generative AI ("Gemini") to provide AI features. When you use an AI tool, the text, images, or documents you submit may be sent to Google's AI service for processing so the app can generate summaries, explanations, quizzes, and image-based study help.

The app also relies on these third-party services:

• Supabase — account authentication and storage of profile/subscription data
• Google Sign-In — optional sign-in method
• Google Generative AI (Gemini) — AI feature processing
• Google Play Billing — subscription purchases and restore
• Firebase Remote Config — remote app configuration

You should review each provider's own privacy policy to understand how they handle information sent to their services.

5. Camera, Photos, and Files

Some features allow you to take photos using your camera, choose images from your device, or select PDF or DOCX files from storage. These files are used only to perform the feature you selected, such as scanning, summarizing, generating study material, solving math problems, or setting a profile photo. The app does not access your camera, photos, or files unless you choose to use those features.

6. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:

• With Supabase, Google Sign-In, Google Generative AI, and Google Play Billing, strictly to provide the app's features
• When required by law, legal process, or government request
• When needed to protect the rights, safety, or security of users, the app, or others

7. Data Retention

• Account data is retained for as long as your account exists, or until you request deletion (see Section 9).
• Locally stored data (notes, tasks, calendar events, AI history, settings) remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. AI history is capped at 120 entries; older entries are removed automatically once that limit is reached.

8. Notifications

If you enable notifications, the app may send study session reminders and related alerts. Notification permissions are controlled by your device settings, and you can disable them at any time.

9. Account and Data Deletion

To delete your account and the account data we store (email, name, profile fields, subscription status), visit our account deletion page or contact us at the email below. We will delete your account data within 30 days after verifying your request.

Deleting your account does not automatically erase content stored only on your device (notes, tasks, calendar events, AI history) — you can remove that at any time from within the app, or by uninstalling it.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the app and the data it processes, including relying on Supabase's authentication and database security. However, no method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's Privacy

The app is intended for general educational use and is not knowingly directed to children under the applicable minimum age in your region. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent where required by law. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can address it.

12. Your Choices

• Edit or remove profile details (name, bio, study goal, institution, avatar) from within the app
• Stop using AI features if you do not want content sent to Google's AI service
• Disable notifications through your device settings
• Delete notes, tasks, events, or AI history from within the app
• Request deletion of your account and account data by contacting us
• Uninstall the app to remove locally stored data from your device

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
